State Bar of Arizona wins 2026 LexisNexis Community and Educational Outreach Award
The State Bar of Arizona is proud to announce that its Public Service Center (PSC) has received a 2026 LexisNexis Community and Educational Outreach Award. The PSC is the Bar’s public outreach and service arm that focuses on access to justice through virtual and in-person legal clinics, live televised phone banks, legal education, community partnerships, self-help resources and volunteer attorney engagement.
The award, given out by the National Association of Bar Professionals (NABE), honors outstanding bar public service and law-related education programs. The PSC was recognized for transforming and streamlining the program to serve more people and reach more volunteer attorneys.
The PSC won in the large bar association category and accepted the award at NABE’s annual meeting in Chicago on July 28.
“The NABE Lexis Nexis Award is a shining example of the great work being done by the Public Service Center and the State Bar of Arizona,” State Bar of Arizona President Doreen McPaul said. “I’m grateful for the role the PSC plays in serving communities statewide and look forward to its continued commitment to expanding access to justice.”
In 2025, the PSC was rebuilt to serve a statewide access to justice model with expanded leadership support, broader coordination responsibility and a wider geographic scope. As a result, virtual clinics went from quarterly to monthly and brought direct legal aid to four rural counties: Coconino, Apache, Cochise and Pinal.
The PSC also established community partnerships with television stations KGUN (Tucson) and Univision (statewide) in addition to ABC15 (Phoenix) to provide consumers with more opportunities to benefit from pro-bono legal advice.
Since the redesign, the PSC has served nearly 3,000 consumers, compared to 1,900 the previous year, and doubled its volunteer attorney base to nearly 400.
This is the third time the State Bar of Arizona has won a LexisNexis Community and Educational Outreach Award, previously taking home honors in 2020 and 2017.
