State Bar for the Win: Collects 485 Pounds of Food for Arizona Families
Staff participates in St. Vincent de Paul's first annual Justice League Food Drive
PHOENIX – July 11, 2019 – Superhero staff at the State Bar of Arizona flew into action for St. Vincent de Paul's first annual Justice League Food Drive and collected 485 pounds of food for Arizona families. The month-long food drive held in May garnered the Bar bragging rights and the Scale of Champions Trophy.
St. Vincent de Paul's Justice League Food Drive challenged local law firms and legal organizations to activate their teams and collect food to help meet the increased need during summer months.
"The State Bar of Arizona's tremendous effort to collect 485 pounds of food translates into thousands of meals for Arizona families and children, who lose access to school meal programs and feel the financial strain of higher utility bills during the summer months," said Shannon Clancy, Associate Executive Director at St. Vincent de Paul. "We're hoping this is just the start of a long relationship with not only the State Bar of Arizona, but the entire Valley legal community to help keep families and children nourished through the Justice League Food Drive."
First-year participants of the Justice League Food Drive included Ballard Spahr, Dickinson Wright, and the State Bar of Arizona.
"Our staff at the State Bar of Arizona, like St. Vincent DePaul, is committed to supporting our community," said Joel England, CEO/Executive Director of the State Bar of Arizona. "It's inspiring to see the legal community come together for the greater good. The real winners are those who will have a hot meal on their dinner table," he added.
