2020 Board of Governors Elections Results

Active and judicial members in four Board Districts have elected members to the Board of Governors. After all the votes were counted (electronically) and verified, here's how the candidates ranked in the voting:

District 1 (Apache, Coconino, Mohave and Navajo Counties)

  • Eric Ruchensky, Coconino County Attorney's Office – 78 votes – Elected

District 4 (Cochise County)

  • D. Christopher Russell, The Russell’s Law Firm PLC – 28 votes – Re-elected

District 5 (Pima and Santa Cruz Counties)

  • Ted Schmidt, Schmidt Sethi & Akmajian – 231 votes – Elected
  • Amanda Bynum, University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law – 178 votes

District 6 (Maricopa County)

  • Robert J. McWhirter, The Law Offices of Robert J. McWhirter – 927 votes – Reelected
  • Kelsi Taylor Lane, Davis Miles McGuire Gardner PLLC – 859 votes – Elected
  • Juan C. Flamand, Fragomen Del Rey Bernsen and Loewy LLP – 662 votes
  • James B. Reed, Udall Shumway PLC – 511 votes
  • Don A. Fendon, Law Office of Don A. Fendon PLC – 397 votes
  • Michael Kielsky, Udall Shumway PLC – 360 votes

Newly elected Young Lawyers Division President Jena Rae Decker-Xu of Fragomen Del Rey Bernsen and Loewy LLP (Phoenix) will also join the board. The YLD president receives an automatic seat on the board during their one-year tenure.

The Board of Governors is expected to certify the election results at its April 17 meeting.
