Peer Review Committee
Mission Statement
The Peer Review Program deals with complaints
about attorneys that do not rise to the level of an ethical
violation. They are referred to the program internally, from
the Lawyer Regulation Office or the Attorney/ Consumer Assistance
Program. The matters are reviewed in-house and then assigned
it to one of the Peer Review committee members, who contact both
the complaining party and the attorney in question to counsel the
attorney and resolve the matter. The attorney's participation
and cooperation are voluntary, but this is often an effective
method by which the State Bar can help an attorney adjust his or
her behavior and avoid further complaints.
