State Bar of Arizona Wins National Award
PHOENIX - John F. Phelps, CEO, today announced
that the State Bar of Arizona has received a Thomson Reuters Legal
Luminary Award for communications excellence from the National
Association of Bar Executives (NABE). During a gathering in
Portland, Maine of the NABE Communications Section, the State Bar
of Arizona received a Luminary Award for Excellence in Special
Publications.
The State Bar of Arizona was among 16 bar associations and their
communications professionals to receive a Luminary Award this
year. The Luminary Awards recognize excellence in marketing,
public relations, regular publications, special publications,
electronic publications, and websites. Winners include
representatives from small, medium, and large bar associations from
across the county.
"We are very proud of the Communications Department for earning
this award," said Phelps. "Bringing home an award of this caliber
is a true testament to our staff's professionalism and is a
wonderful recognition of the work this bar association does to
serve its members and the public."
The winning entry was Welcome to Arizona's Legal Community, a
guide for new admittees which describes various departments and
programs of the State Bar and highlights deadlines for certain
professional requirements for lawyers practicing in Arizona.
Keeping up with technology and allowing the State Bar to "go
green," the publication is a searchable CD that has replaced
traditional printed materials.
"The Thomson Reuters Legal Luminary Awards recognize excellence
in the field of communications," said Kevin Priestner,
communications director for the State Bar of Texas and chair of the
Luminary Awards Committee. "The winners represent the best in their
field as judged by those who know best - their peers."
The Luminary Awards are made possible through the generous
support of Thomson Reuters Legal, which has sponsored the awards
program since its inception in 1992.
