Sharon A. Fullmer Legal Aid
Attorney of the Year Award
The Board of Governors first presented this award in 1997. It is bestowed on a legal services lawyer in Arizona whose service to low-income people encompasses both aggressive advocacy on behalf of individuals in extreme need as well as impact advocacy designed to address systemic issues affecting significant numbers of low-income people.
2013 Recipient

BEVERLY B. PARKER has been the Managing Attorney for the Consumer/Housing/Public Benefits unit of Southern Arizona Legal Aid since 2008. She works primarily in the areas of consumer law, mortgage foreclosure prevention, tenant eviction and bankruptcy. She has practiced law for over 35 years and is licensed in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Virginia, Washington D.C. and Arizona. Prior to coming to Arizona she practiced in Florida and was Board Certified in Matrimonial and Family Law. In Florida she was also a Certified Family Mediator and assisted in developing case law and procedural rules to protect victims of domestic violence. Although she has worked in both federal, public interest and private practice, she prefers working for legal aid because "it is one of the few practice areas where an attorney is actually doing what we were all taught to do in law school. We argue the pure application of the law and try to make sure our clients are given fair and equal treatment under the law regardless of their social status or income."
