Outstanding Young Lawyer Award

The Outstanding Young Lawyer, selected by the Young Lawyers Division, is recognized for outstanding efforts in law-related service to the community or the bar.

2012 Recipient

Kate Frenzinger is an associate with the Phoenix office of DLA Piper LLP (US). She has been admitted to practice since 2004.

Kate helped to develop and now manages DLA Piper's relationship with St. Mary's FoodKate Frenzinger Bank Alliance, the "First Food Bank." Since 2007, Kate has served as outside general counsel to St. Mary's and provides pro bono legal assistance in a variety of areas. Kate also developed and administers the Feeding America Legal Services Hotline, through which food banks throughout the United States can receive pro bono legal services from DLA Piper lawyers.
 
She spearheaded a partnership between the Florence Immigration and Refugee Rights Program and DLA Piper's Phoenix office. Most recently, Kate was part of a team of lawyers who obtained a temporary restraining order (TRO) in favor of a homeless family whose children were being excluded from public school.

Through her work with St. Mary's, the Legal Services Hotline, and FIIRP, Kate and the DLA lawyers have contributed over 1,952 hours of pro bono legal services.

Finally, since 2010, Kate has served as an advisor to Arizona State University College of Law's Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Team and accompanies the team to Vienna, Austria each spring to coach them in this important international arbitration moot.
