Member of the Year Award

The Member of the Year Award is presented by the Board of Governors to an attorney who has rendered extraordinary contributions to the programs and activities of the State Bar in the prior year.  Hundreds, even thousands, of the Bar's members contribute their time and talent to the work of the Bar, but this award is limited to an individual whose contributions are exceptional.   The award was established in 1991.

2012 Recipient

Todd Lang has served since 2005 as the executive director of the Citizens Clean Elections Commission. His experience includes three years as counsel for the Arizona Clean Elections Commission, where he successfully argued before the Arizona Supreme Court in defense of the Clean Elections Act.Todd Lang

Previously, Todd litigated on behalf of victims of consumer fraud as chief counsel for the Consumer Litigation Unit at the Office of the Arizona Attorney General. He spent the first seven years of his legal career as a legal services attorney and litigated against slumlords and on behalf of victims of consumer fraud.

Todd is the president-elect of the State Bar's Foundation for Legal Services and Education. He previously served the State Bar as chair of its Legal Services Committee, Access to Justice Taskforce, and Public Lawyers Committee; and co-chair of the Convention Committee. He also served as co-president of the Lorna Lockwood Inn of Court. He has been honored as Arizona's "Tenant Advocate of the Year" in 2005; and one of Arizona's "Top 50 Pro Bono Lawyers" in 2005, 2006, and 2007.

Todd graduated from the Cornell University College of Law in 1993 and lives in central Phoenix with his wife and their three children.
