Task Force on Sustainability
In July 2011, the Board of Governors approved the creation of a task force to assess the environmental sustainability of the State Bar of Arizona ("SBA") and how the SBA could incorporate sustainability initiatives and/or provide resources on the topic to its members.
The goal of the State Bar of Arizona Task Force on Sustainability is to equip the State Bar of Arizona ("SBA") and its members with the knowledge and tools to promote conservation and protection of natural resources. At the 2014 State Bar Convention, the Task Force's seminar - Go Green. Save Green. - provided practical ways in which lawyers can incorporate sustainability measures into their law offices and practices by reducing paper, printing and storage expenses.
Specifically, the purpose of the Task Force on Sustainability is to:
- Assess the environmental sustainability of SBA offices and operations.
- Evaluate ways in which the SBA may: a) raise awareness of environmental sustainability and stewardship among its members; and b) equip itself and its members with the knowledge and tools to promote environmentally sustainable practices.
- Issue a report to the SBA Board of Governors presenting the results of the Task Force's assessment and evaluation, and making recommendations consistent with its goal and purpose.
- Assist in development and implementation of approved recommendations.
The Task Force is expected to provide its report and recommendations to the Board of Governors by June 2015.
